CrimeWatch Application

 

The CrimeWatch Application is an Android-based Cell Phone or Tablet Application that will be made available to all Hartbeespoort Residents on a user registration basis. Every user will be verified in advance. The application will enable users to benefit from an array of capabilities that will include, but may not be limited to:

 

Suspicious Vehicles

 

Users will be able to photogaph and report Suspicious Vehicles. Whenever a vehicle is added, the system will verify the details against the known user (registered user) database and either confirm that the vehicle belongs to a registered resident (no personal details will be shsred), record the details or return a list of previous reports from the area.

 

Suspicious Persons

 

Whenever a suspicious person is observed, they can be photographed and/or their description added to the system database. Other users will immediately receive a live alert of the details reported, the date, time and location and can immediately look out for the person.

 

Verified Workers

 

By registering workers (gardeners, butlers, plumbers or office staff) on the CrimeWatch Database, any person confronted or observed by a CrimeWatch or a Neighborhood Watch Patrol can be verified and identified against the CrimeWatch Database. This will save time and free up resources since pedestrians can be vetted and cleared almost instantly - eliminating the need for time intensive personal verifications or identication.

 

Patroller Duties

 

By using the CrimeWatch Application, Neighborhood Watch Patrollers can "book" on duty, declare an emergency response call, log arrival and departure times and lcoations and log off duty. The Application will then enable the user to compile a duty report, outlining the hours worked, the number of incidents handled, the time spend on each and the outcome of their efforts. This is a duty register that will assist neighborhood watches to analyse their duties to become more efficient.
