Protecting Key Sites...
We are in the process of developing further additions to the website to ensure that our members are properly informed, up to date on all aspects of our service and informed of the services we offer and how our existence benefits the Harties Community. Please call back soon to see our updated pages. Thanks.

Schools
Most criminals are prone to violence, intimidation, attack and even murder... On soft targets. It takes a very specific and experienced type of criminal to target victims that are capable of defending themselves. For this reason, we have to assume that our most vulnerable community members - our children - are at constant risk. We have to protect them.
For this reason, Harties Community Crime Watch will focus its attention on schools during the mornings and afternoons and intensify patrols around and near schools during school-going hours. This enables us to detect the presence of potentially criminal entities wishing to harm or exploit our children.
We will make sure that the kids are safe first - they are most vulnerable.
Businesses
Many business - especially in malls - experience a higher risk during opening and closing times. We know that most cash money is exchanged at malls and at franchises like restaurants and small businesses situated in malls. For this reason, we will consider opening and closing times of businesses at and around the hours that expose them to the greatest risk.
After schools start at 08h00, we will move our attention to the malls, where most businesses will open by 9AM. We also know that businesses at malls typically close betwen 6PM and 8 PM in our area. For this reason, our shirt change times will be specifically designed not to contribute to the risk profile of our most valuable members.

Churches/Events
When you review crime trends in Hartbeespoort, you will immediately see that criminals have little or no regard for religion. They will break into a vehicle at a church as comfortably as they would at one in a mall parking lot. Equally we have seen a trend relating to special events: At almost every special event held in town, there have been either attempted or actual vehicle break-ins or theft cases.
For this reason Harties Community CrimeWatch will stay sensitive to ongoing social and special events and specifically develop patrol programs to ensure increased safety at these events. By providing special patrols with a special interest in the movements of presence of abnormal vehicle or pedestrian traffic, we will be in a position to prevent crime, rather than attempt to react to it.
We will strive to ensure that our members can attend events and feel safe.

Residential Estates
Many residential estates have internal security. Most prefer not to have armed guards on the premises to create a feeling of safety and to foster a natural and relaxed atmosphere. We fully understand and support this. But there are also estates with no security personnel on site and others where situations might develop where armed confrontation or the search for suspects would require a more capable and experienced crew.
By being available to complete regular patrols inside estates, being available to respond on a per-case basis in support of one-site security services and by doing regular "gate calls," we can contribute positively to the safety of estates by ensuring that the officers deployed there are safe as well.
We will do whatever it takes to assit and support the efforts of security services.
