Protecting the patrollers...

We are in the process of developing further additions to the website to ensure that our members are properly informed, up to date on all aspects of our service and informed of the services we offer and how our existence benefits the Harties Community. Please call back soon to see our updated pages. Thanks.

Neighbourhood Watches

A Neighborhood Watch can be best described as a group of citizens in a particular area that organises themselves towards improving community safety. The watches are typically manned by local residents who are not typically trained or experienced in crime confrontation and they are encouraged to be the "eyes and ears" of the police.

These patrollers often drive unmarked vehicles, are often operated by lone drivers, operate very late into the night hours and are typically reliant on other community members, when they get into confrontations.

Harties Community CrimeWatch will make a special effort to protect these patrollers during late night hours by doing regular check-ins and supporting them.

Security Services

Private Security Services often employ guards that are postd in static locations or place reaction officers on vehicles to respond to alarm activations. This means that these security officers are often left along and exposed to risk. If you watch the Video on the Left, you will see this go horribly wrong. A guard arrives alone, in response to a business robbery report, has no back-up and gets caught completely by surprise, ordered down, robbed of his firearm and shot - luckily he survives, but this could have been much worse.

For this reason, Harties Community CrimeWatch will provide support and back-up to security services in the area, where requested. We understand and acknowledge the importance of these service providers and we believe that their safety today ensure community safety tomorrow. We support everyone, including those that are supposed to be protecting others. We are all in this together!

Radio Networks

The Bravo November Network is the most widely used radio network in Hartbeespoort. For this reason, Harties Community CrimeWatch will make efforts to be registered on this network and to automatically provide support services to the members of this community safety enhancement solution.

Every member of Bravo November has a PANIC button. Our CrimeWatch patrollers will be equipped with a GPS and a Tablet Computer. This way - if any panic alarm is received the security officer can immediately verify the address and get immediate GPS guidance to the door - along the shortest and fastest route.

We hope to have every Bravo November member's GPS coordinates pre-programmed into our GPS systems to facilitate rapid deployment in emergencies.
