Member Benefits...

Hartbeespoort Community Crimewatch is a service aimed at protecting the whole community. As such, it needs to operate over a wide area, remain mobile most of the time, cover hundreds of miles per day and remain operationally efficient and active.

As such, Hartbeespoort Residents have the opportunity to join as members FOR FREE, by joining our WhatsApp Channel.

By becoming a member, you will contribute directly to the general safety of the community at large and - because you are a paying members and expect your money to "do something for you," there are specific member benefits you can enjoy.

To find out exactly what all the benefits are, you would need to contact us for a personal consultation, but these are the most imporant benefits you will enjoy, as a member.

For those without the financial capaciy to become a paying member, please inquire about our CrimeWatch Volunteer option - a solution to allow any member of the community to contribute more directly to the efforts of CrimeWatch and "getting invovled" in our efforts.

We need many volunteers to asssit with tasks that are not directly linked to security services (protection, etc), like data mining, data capture, web site administration, authoring of articles, training, etc.

Feedback

Feeback has to be the cornerstone of any proactive community safety program. Simply telling people what happened over the last day, week or month is hardly adequate. In order for a community to develop holistic personal security protocols, members need to receive feedback on all incidents, contacts, actions, reactions and so-called "near-misses." Our feedback systems will be designed to ensure that members are constantly aware of potential, current or evolving risks.

Training

In many meetings, the Hartbeespoort Community have asked for plans and promises from existing safety structures that would enable them to contribite to safety and crime prevention in the area. While obvious advice like "close your windows" and "lock your doors" are obvious replies in many instances, community members should be trained on the more advanced, tactical aspects of personal protection. Topics like Self-Defence, Counter-surveillance, Personal and Home Security are only some of the topics that we intend to address.

Software

The only way to enable CrimeWatch Members, Neighbourhood Watch Patrollers and even police officers the upper hand in the fight against crime is to develop a platform for the live collection, recoding, storage and interrogation of crime risk data. By developing our CrimeWatch Application, we will empower all role-players to be in a position to interface directly with crime and risk intelligence. Our Application will enable users to do live searches on known and unknown entities.

Legal Advice

Harties Community Crime Watch has made a remarkable break-through by partnering up with one of the best criminal attorneys in South Africa - Mr. Theasen Pillay from Theasen Pillay and Associates. While based in Durban, Mr. Pillay will be available to provide free legal guidance on crime-related matters to members of CrimeWatch. By having a lawyer-on-call, CrimeWatch will be in a position to guide and assist members when confrontations have occurred via Mr. Pillay.

Routine Checks

Whether your husband is away for work, if you are on holiday or if you are merely concerned for your person safety at home, you will be able to ask CrimeWatch to check in on you, your family, your house or even your business on a regular basis. This will allow you to rest assured that routine visits are taking place and that your loved ones or your valuable assets are contantly monitored. We want Members to know that we are there for them constantly - whenever we are out on patrol.

Case Following

Research done over a six-month period has indicated that a lack of feedback after reporting crimes remains one of the most frustrating aspects of being a victim of crime. For this reason, Harties Community Crime Watch is now offering a case-following service. If you have reported a criminal case at any police station and fail to receive feedback, we can be appointed as your representative to follow up on the progress of criminal cases and elevate rquests, if needed.
